These are the first videos of Kahanu ventilator production we have shared.

Huge shout out to Ross Mukai who picked up raw materials and is crafting these bag sleds as we speak. These precision parts are used to change the “shape” of the system to change breathing characteristics mechanically without the need for a computer to control fancy gears and motors. These parts he is crafting will go to our FDA test units. He also fabricated a few sample acrylic windows for us to test earlier this week.

Ross is no stranger to making stuff. He founded Oahu Maker Space and has been making face shields and other things to protect our community. I hope our capacity to make stuff here only grows. Imagine if we were totally reliant on overseas shops for everything.
